How to make some “me time” every day

me-time-every-mum-needs

Every mum deserves and needs some “Me Time” every day. We are all busy and face different challenges every day. It doesn’t matter how little or old your kids are or if you work away from or at home, you need time for yourself and this is something that YOU NEED to make happen, nobody else will do it for you. So, in this post, I will share with you some ideas.

But first… Why?

The struggle is real. Motherhood is a beautiful journey but it’s hard work and exhausting. It could be overwhelming at times, right? So it is crucial for our mental health and wellbeing, in general, to take the time to reset and recharge our energy.

What can I do?

Set up routines: This is something I am working on. Yes I haven’t it mastered yet but I am seeing some results in some routines I have already established at home, so I encourage you to do the same. If we don’t have a routine we live in chaos.

So, you can add your “me time” before the morning rush. As part of your routine, try getting up earlier than everyone else in your house and use this time to create, read, or write. That’s what I do. I write early in the morning before I fight with my kids to wake up, have breakfast, dress, clean their teeth, brush their hair, geez if I don’t have this me time before they wake up I feel horrible and I am grumpy and that’s not fair for everyone else.

Perhaps you can have your “me time” before dinner or after the kids are in bed. Sometimes I have it before dinner while my husband is playing with my girls I run to my room close the door and I do what I like for few minutes before someone says “Where is mum?”.

Disconnect

Something else we can do is “Disconnect” yes turn off your phone, your internet and your computer. For me turning off my computer is pretty difficult because I work with my computer all the time but I notice sometimes it take me an hour to write something I could have written in 5 minutes if I had disconnected earlier. So, it is important to disconnect yourself to be more productive and efficient with your time.

How much time do I need?

You only need at least 5 minutes per day. Yes, 5 minutes that are yours to do whatever makes you happy without the constant life distractions.

Examples of ME TIME:

  • Meditate
  • Read a book/favourite magazine
  • Write something
  • Do Yoga
  • Do exercise
  • Stretch
  • Apply Moisturiser
  • Enjoy a Face Mask
  • Do your nails
  • Have a hot coffee or tea
  • Eat a Chocolate
  • Drink Water
  • Listen to your favorite music
  • Learn something new (Youtube videos count)
  • Burn a Candle
  • Have a bath
  • Draw or paint something (this works fab for me)
or
  • Do Nothing!

What do you think? Do you already have some “me time” as part of your routine? What do you do?

I hope some of these tips will help you. I am sharing this post because I also need more “me time” in my life so I need to write out my goals; so that they happen and I hope you do this too! you will notice the difference.

Have a wonderful week.
