Why you have to stop saying: I’m just a mum!

bevelryic and her kids jumping in bed

-What do you do?
-I’m just a mum….
-“Just a mum!?”
-Who? The one who wakes up at 6am or (maybe even earlier) to make lunches, organize the house, get kids ready for school, drive, and drop off kids.
Maybe go to work to an office or go home and work from there, maybe from her computer or maybe cleaning the bloody house, doing the washing, folding clothes, fixing something. Or maybe taking care of little tiny humans than demand her full attention, her cuddles, her whole time between mealtimes, snacks and changing nappies, all in a constant cycle.

That mum needs to think every single day about what to cook for her kids so they bloody stop being so fussy. That mum that needs to go to the supermarket with a toddler screaming and a baby in her arms. That mum needs to come back home after working in an office/shift and clean, get dinner ready, play with her kids, read and practice maths with her kids. Put them in bed, and get uniforms ready for the next day. Maybe she needs to do homework because yeah she is studying online or doing a course during the day to provide a better future for her family. And when it is finally time for herself, she is already asleep 😴

And do we still think what we do “it’s just being a mum”?Let’s stop minimising our job, we do heaps of things in one day and our job is more valuable than we could ever imagine.

Let’s be proud of who we are and the job that we do, even if at times it feels like the hardest thing ever.

You know they say we get paid in love, yeah it’s true I agree, but what about if we give that love back to ourselves?

Remember

Whatever is your situation right now it’s only temporary, better times will come if we are mentally ready for them.

Do you find it difficult to explain what you do every time someone asks you? It is like somehow we are ashamed of being a stay-at-home mum🤨 What are your thoughts?
